Covering Alzheimer’s Research—Literally
I’m proud to share that my artwork was selected as the cover image for the July 2022 issue of Medicina (Volume 58, Issue 7). The issue focuses on biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease research and care, and the cover was created to highlight a featured article by Dr. Jeffrey Cummings: “Biomarkers for Alzheimer’s Disease: Context of Use, Qualification, and Roadmap for Clinical Implementation.”
It was a privilege to contribute visual support to this work, both in the form of the cover and the illustrations included in the article. Dr. Cummings is a renowned leader in the field of Alzheimer’s research, and collaborating on this project gave me a chance to help visualize the complex landscape of Alzheimer’s biomarkers and their role in disease staging.
The cover concept was developed to convey the expanding biomarker toolkit being explored in Alzheimer’s research. Creating a visual that could reflect both the science and the urgency of the topic was a challenge I was honored to take on.
Scientific and medical illustration often lives quietly within the pages of articles, supporting the content without much fanfare. So it’s especially meaningful to see this work recognized so prominently on the cover of a peer-reviewed journal. I’m grateful to have played a small role in a much larger and vitally important conversation.
